The University of Strathclyde located in Glasgow in Scotland, was founded in 1796 by Professor John Anderson with the purpose of being ‘the place of useful learning’ as he was determined to create a new institution which would not discriminate against anyone because of their religion, race or gender. This historical tradition is reflected by our reputation as a leading international technological university, focused on delivering excellent teaching and world-class research, and forging collaborative links with academia, business, the government and the public sector, in a common cause to make a significant difference for our students and the wider society.

Strathclyde is a multi-award-winning university. Some of our most prestigious accolades are the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards and Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards, viewed as the 'Oscars' of the UK higher education sector. Winning eight of these awards in seven years, we've been recognised across a variety of categories. These include the coveted ‘University of the Year’ in 2012, ‘Business School of the Year’ in 2016, and the accolade of ‘Workplace of the Year’ in 2017.

Strathclyde Business School (SBS) founded in 1948, is one of the 4 faculties comprising the University, is one of the largest institutions of its kind in Europe and the largest in the UK with a Royal Charter, and has a long tradition in commercial education. It is one of 1% of business schools in the world to hold the "triple crown" accreditation from the most sought-after international accreditation (AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS), and has a reputation for international research excellence as evidenced by the most recent ‘Research Excellence Framework’ (REF 2014) in which it was rated1st in Scotland and 7th in the UK.

SBS is also well known for its innovation in business and management education, having pioneered developments in undergraduate teaching, and in postgraduate programmes, notably the Master of Business Administration, Master of Business Management and the Doctorate of Business Administration.
