ERC is the state-of-the-art USD 4.3 billion greenfield petroleum refinery, Egypt's largest PPP infrastructure megaproject, and the largest private sector-led infrastructure megaproject in Africa developed with the cooperation of a broad spectrum of debt and equity investors.
The principle of ERC Refinery is upgrading 4.3 million tons per annum of heavy oil (atmospheric residue) to light oil products such as naphtha and middle distillates including over 2.2 million tons per anum of ultra-low sulfur diesel EURO which are the most valuable products thus profiting from the developed added value.
ERC is eliminating 186,000 tons of Egypt's annual sulfur dioxide emissions (29% of Egypt's present sulfur dioxide emissions), and improving the quality of the national refined products supply.
ERC was commissioned in 2019 and contributed to the growing Egyptian economy.
